Silver moments - Tiny resistors

Tiny resistances (within the project The silence of the Name)
Installation 2023
With the collaboration of Agnès WO

We look at the resistances of the tiny, of the actions and the thoughts that burst into this totality broken by terror. It is the moment of small gestures, of observing the detail, of tiny resistances.
“Alfred Brauner, French, born in 1910, put himself at the service of the Spanish republican institutions without taking up the rifle, but trying to diminish, through drawing, the emotional wounds of the boys and girls who arrived in the colonies after being evacuated between 1936 and 1939. Many years detached, José Antonio Gallardo Cruz (Madrid, 1948), begins an exhaustive investigation of all the material dispersed in Spanish territory and abroad. This research led him to investigate the subject and to edit The children's drawing of the evacuation during the Spanish Civil War (1936 -1939). The result of this are these 142 drawings”

This work is a small tribute to the more than 200,000 evacuated boys and girls who suffered one of the most traumatic situations for a child: the loss of the place and the uncertainty of the future. Some of them were lucky enough to be able to express with their imagination the situation in which they found themselves. The small silver scale is the symbol of a possible imaginary exit.
