Work made in homage to the artist Virgínia M. Raimundi and with the reference of Sappho.
 
Chastity belt. THE KEY, speaks of the enormous journeys that many women have to make to get the key to their identity, as well as the multiple strategies and euphemisms that institutional and religious power uses to mask sexual dissidence. Today the role of bisexuality in ancient Greece is clear, but taboo has always surrounded Sappho. Although today it is not disputed that the recipients of her poems and her love were the young women of the thiasos, whether they were her friends, colleagues or students, for centuries Christian culture considered these women as "chaste" or "felators" because they did not have to call homosexuality a possible option. But it is also important to note that dissent is not usually restricted to sexual identity, as many women, Safo as well as Virgínia, rebel against dictatorial powers and their destiny is exile. A creative and transformative exile, fortunately.
 
Virgínia M. Raimundi exiled in Berlin at the end of Franco's regime, who resided in the Kreuzberg neighborhood in East Berlin under the incoming communist repression in contact with its cultural, artistic and social reality. Virginia supported and established friendship with several German artists, was known for her androgynous and ambiguous image and became an activist who welcomed people from different groups.
She returned to Catalonia around 2021 and has since resided in Caldes d'Estrac.
