WORKS

Can my voice come in here?

Tosquelian tours.

Based on the three basic columns of the artistic project BEFORE LANGUAGE / BEFORE LANGUAGE, language, border and community, together with Celeste Reyna, psychoanalyst, plus all the artists participating in the general project, we generate delocalized actions together with the Pere Mata Foundation Tierras del Ebro and ESARDI - School of Art and Design and the Tierras del Ebro Lo Pati Art Center in Amposta.

Relocated project
At first, we considered creating a working group in turn to recognize the needs and common knowledge from self-representation and first-person narration, with the use of audiovisual media as an articulating instrument, connecting users of the Institute Pere Mata, Psychiatric Hospital, the Art School and the Art Center.

Taking into account the circumstances of confinement in which the users of Pere Mata are located and the unstable situation in terms of face-to-face attendance at the School of Art, with Celeste Reyna we redirect the project towards a greater need, that of «giving voice» through of textual and/or voice correspondences:

«For psychoanalysis we are all immigrants because we are born exiles in the language of the Other, that Other refers to the treasure of signifiers that are given to us at birth and with which we will have to read ourselves, build ourselves, deconstruct ourselves, throughout our existence...Language, that before language, is for each one something received and not learned» says J. Lacan.

First of all, we worked on building the link with Pere Mata professionals and with users if the sanitary measures made it possible. We then held meetings with the Amposta School of Art to convey the objectives of the project in order to start the correspondences.

From here, a textual/sound exchange and the construction of the framework with the three institutions developed, creating the assembly of the device and the incorporation of the voices that wanted to «enter here».

Finally, we generated a space for reflection with the entire community, where collective sound, performative and memorial works were produced, such as the transfer of stones from the Old Town of Corbera del Ebro in the square in front of the Lo Pati center with an intervention worked collectively: Words to the memory.

The objective, in addition to bringing the history of these rubble closer to the art center and the people of Amposta, was to carry out an intervention so that when the stones return to their place, they can be accompanied by our voices and our letters. A list of words that begin with the prefix RE, proved adequate to RE-LEAD both of silence.
