Llengualeche

Video installation two projections + two screens. 2021.

Explorations around migratory wounds within language.

En LLENGUALECHE, as in immediately previous works, I continue to place my gaze on the panoptic society, the migrant, fragile and precarious bodies that are made invisible and placed in the place of «the other» even in the most hospitable and welcoming proposals – hostipitalitat that Laura Llevadot calls since Derrida.

The work reflects the internal struggle that occurs in the language of immigrants with its quotas of need for integration, preservation of identity –despite the losses– together with the difficulty of transmission, an action so important in the processes of oblivion and memory, imperious in the emotionality of those who are forced to move.

The spaces in which the actions take place, are the border spaces of the banks of the Ebro, «embodied border», where the transmission contains the wounds of language produced by trafficking and war. The search for the mother-language... «I only have one language and this is not mine», these words of Derrida will be the center of exploration and work. Because the language thus understood is a single Babelic, non-normative language, which includes diversity in all forms.

Two projection channels narrate the same events, with different visual resources and oral communication strategies. Two screens reproduce moments from memory with images of the present.

Col laboracions
This recording was made three years after the first filming that was done on the Walter Benjamin Route with Ramon Villegas Guix and Max Vilalta Pons, performers, always accompanied by Adolf Alcañiz, cameraman and video technician and with Mónica Pinto in calligraphy, whom I thank for their involvement and professionalism.

Work produced by Lo Pati, Lands of the Ebro Art Center.
