This work is about a collective project that, during its presentation at Manifiesta, continues and will continue to develop with the complicity of its cultural and social actors, inviting visitors to develop an action-reflection on how we can transform cities in the current context through the open case of Ripollet.
The specific proposal for Manifiesta 15 aims to give voice to its people and in a special way, to women who, from the field of historiography, art, music and social and cultural activism, are working to improve the living situation of a city like Ripollet, where its inhabitants often seek new horizons outside its limits. Do we wonder why many young people go to study abroad and never come back? A city 10 km from Barcelona should be a privileged place to live, so close to a big city like Barcelona and at the same time far from pollution, acceleration and tourism. What is the problem that prevents this from happening?
As an artist, I join these voices to generate my own vision in one more layer of the many that generate a complex but essential choral narrative. A voice that aims to be critical but at the same time stimulating and exciting.
The project consists of three conceptual spaces that are different but that are closely related and interact and where visitors will feel welcomed and comfortable. A place to stop, observe calmly, delve into certain reflections and participate in experiences. A space to live and share.
The three spaces are stated in the publication and from an archive space that describes the current economic, social and urban situation of Ripollet and that generates questions that are directed in a particular way to the conditions of accessibility in relation to mobility, health, education and culture. How is this accessibility articulated?
The audiovisual is a poetic response to the vital sensations that occur when entering and leaving the city.
In the space of the game, we start from the premise that urban planning is NOT neutral. Playing ARTIVISM, which is our GAME.
